The Counter is no longer interested in opening at The Block at Pacific Commons in Fremont. The Counter will now open at Gateway Plaza in Fremont next to Sweet Tomatoes. It expected to open in Fall 2013.

That's pretty sad because the The Counter would have brought a lot of business to Pacific Commons. I don't understand why they're making another Ulta when we already have a Ulta at the Fremont Hub. They should have made a Sephora instead. Don't know why they're putting a Men's Warehouse when theres a close one by off Stevenson. They should have put retails stores/restaurants such Apple, Boiling Crab, ..and stores that will bring a lot of revenue that are not close in distance. Some of those stores they decided to build at The Block are ridiculous. In other words....THE STORES SUCK!
As franchises, most of thosecompanies don't actually make the final decision. It is the private franchise owner that chooses to invest in building out a location. The developer can try and attract specific businesses, but in the early stages they are trying to fill space with any reputable company that will become a tenant. Once the Block is successful, they will be much more selective ( and pricey) to assure they get the tenants they want.
The location for the Counter is good. There are several business in the area for a good lunch crowd. An for the dinner, the Gateway Plaza is close to a lot of residences and those getting off at BART. Gateway was the better choice!! Getting to the BLOCK always involes traffic on 880.
